Music Makers: Another
great gathering for Moms and kids which is held every Wednesday at
10:15 am in the room we meet in for Relief Society. Music Makers is a
chance for young children to get their wiggles out by dancing and
playing to music.
Cooking Class: 7:30pm in the Westwood Ward kitchen. This month we're focusing on "On the Menu" cooking class. This one is taught by Laura Redford and she is teaching a Korean dish called Chop Chae.

- Temple Work: Melissa Johnson would like to know if anyone has family temple names that she can do work for in the Temple. Please contact her or her husband Dan, directly.
- Free Spanish Classes: Did you know that more members of the church AND more citizens of the U.S. speak Spanish than speak English? Would you like to learn Spanish? The Stake Relief Society will be providing a weekly Spanish class on Tuesday evenings at the Westwood building for Relief Society members and a teacher will be given a calling to teach this class. Please sign up on this form if you'd be interested in attending so we can see who's interested. (I'm using a new signup website instead of Google docs, which hopefully will be more user-friendly than Google docs. Let me know if you have feedback about using it.)
- Please note that we will have a combined Sacrament meeting with Westwood 1st ward on September 21st for the Primary Program. We'll have Sacrament at 9 a.m. followed by our other meetings at their regular times.

"Hello sisters, This is NOT a relief society activity. This is
something I am doing in hopes of learning and sharing some great foods,
recipes, tips and friendships. I am wanting to do a monthly cooking/
food class at the church and it's open to anyone interested. I would
like for you to email me directly if you have any interest at all. It's
late notice for this month but all are invited to a cooking/ canning
class on Thursday August 21st at 7:00 in the kitchen of the Westwood
building. Each month will be something new. This month will be
PEACHES!!! We will be sharing some peach recipes, having some peachy
foods, demonstrating canning fresh peaches, freezer jams and most
importantly learning and having fun. For anyone that wants to learn
some recipes and/or learn how to can your own foods - come learn. IF you
want to bring your own peaches and clean canning jars with fresh lids,
you are welcome to. Please keep the amount limited so all can have a
chance. Bring your neighbor, co-worker, visiting teachee(er), husband
or just your self. A reply for interest in this class and in general is
encouraged so I have an idea of class size."

Remember to do and report your Visiting Teaching: Once
it's done (and even if it's not!) please report your visiting teaching
to your visiting teaching supervisor the first week of every month for
the previous month. Please also let your supervisor know how your
sisters are doing and if there are any needs.

Emergency Preparedness reminder: The First Presidency recommends building a three-month supply of food. Each month a recipe will be provided that includes nonperishable food items. When storing food it is important to keep track of expiration dates and store food in proper conditions. The First Presidency recommends to store what you eat and eat what you store. This allows a rotation of the food before the expiration date. Cooking without power is another concern in times of emergency. The following website list the many options available: www.yourfamilyark.org. There are instructions on how to build your own oven using cardboard, foil, and charcoal or links on where to purchase solar oven. Our goal is to make some progress every month. Good luck.
The Los Angeles Family History Library: wants
